The Simbai woman pictured here performed a dance with her tribeswomen in which they dressed like the men of their tribe and humourously made male gestures in their dance. The Simbai tribe is located in the mountain foothills of the Madang Province in PNG.

Headhunting and cannibalism are traditional practices that were only recently subdued through heavy missionary influence.
